The Salar Laguna de Salinas, located in the Peruvian highlands, is a hidden gem that offers travelers a unique and surreal adventure. Itinerary


IMPORTANT: From January to march and depending on the weather we also can see water mirrors on the floor formed by the rain and the beautiful Parihuanas or Flamingos. Your pick up will be between 6:00 am to 6:30 am at you accommodation. Our trip will take us through the south part of the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca to get to the Salinas Lake which is located over the 4000 m.a.s.l. Our first stop will be the viewpoint of Chiguata to observe the three volcanos of Arequipa: Misti, Chachani and Pichupichu. We will also observe the Andean terraces or Andenes, which decorate the hills and make a beautiful background for your pictures. On our way up the hills we will make a stop to buy supplies like water and around 8:30 am we will arrive to the Salinas community; we will have breakfast over here facing the marvelous salt flat. Around 9:30 am we will walk into the salt flat and spend around 1 hour to observe the Salinas, use your imagination to take pictures with special perspectives and walking around this marvelous place, our guide will help you with some ideas. This national park is full of Alpacas and Vicuñas. Jump into the natural thermal pool “La Mariposa” which is aside. Don’t skip the experience of swimming over 4000 m.a.s.l. looking at the mountains. Around 12:30 pm we will start driving back and we will arrive in Arequipa City around 2 pm.

What to bring
- During the rainy season (January to April), bring a raincoat.
- Bring swim clothes, a towel, and an extra pair of socks (just in case).

- Bring toilet paper, as most places don’t offer it at the toilets.
- Bring cash.

Cancellation or changes of this tour:
- CHANGES: It is FREE to change the tour date before 6:00 pm (Lima time) the day before the tour begins.
- NO SHOWS & CANCELLATIONS: If you cancel the day prior to the tour before 6:00 pm (Lima time) or earlier, a 10% administration fee will apply. After this time, there is a 100% no-show or cancellation fee.
- You must email office@peru-expeditions.org (include the name of the tour and the reservation number) to cancel this tour or to make any changes.
